Where we work

On the water, and used to weather.

Hampton sits at the end of the Peninsula, about an hour and ten minutes from our Midlothian office. We handle residential and commercial roofing throughout the city.

It is one of the oldest continuously settled English-speaking cities in the country, and the housing stock shows it: nineteenth century homes in Phoebus and Wythe, post-war neighborhoods through the middle, and newer construction toward the edges.

Being genuinely coastal, closer to open water than most of what we work, changes the priorities on a Hampton roof.

We know Hampton

Low elevation, high exposure.

Hampton is low-lying and directly exposed to water on multiple sides, which puts it among the more wind-exposed markets in Virginia. Neighborhoods like Buckroe and Fox Hill take weather with very little between them and open water. Uplift resistance is therefore the design question on every roof: how the starter course is set, how the edge metal is fastened, and whether the nailing pattern actually matches what the shingle manufacturer requires for its high-wind rating.

Flooding and storm surge are a separate matter that a roofer does not solve, but they do mean water can reach a house from two directions in the same event. When we inspect after a storm we document what the roof did and what came from elsewhere, because insurers treat wind damage and flood damage as entirely different claims.

Common questions

Hampton roofing FAQs.

Do you serve Hampton?

Yes. Hampton is about an hour and ten minutes from our Midlothian office, inside the range we work.

Is wind rating something I should ask about?

In Hampton, yes. Shingles carry a high-wind rating that only applies if the nailing pattern, starter course, and edge metal are installed exactly as the manufacturer specifies. Ask any contractor how they will meet it, and expect a specific answer.

My damage might be flood, not wind. Does that matter?

A great deal. Insurers treat wind and flood as separate claims under separate policies. When we inspect after a storm we document what the roof did and what came from elsewhere, so the claim reflects the right cause.

Do you work on the older Phoebus and Wythe homes?

Yes. Those bring nineteenth century construction with plank decking, layered prior roofs, and original flashing that generally needs rebuilding. It goes in the estimate before the work starts.

Does salt air shorten roof life?

It shortens the life of the exposed metal more than the shingles: flashing, drip edge, fasteners, and gutter hardware. That is worth checking at the same time as the roof surface.

Do you handle commercial buildings in Hampton?

Yes, including low-slope TPO, EPDM, PVC, modified bitumen, and built-up systems.
