What fails first on a cheap roof is what you never saw installed: the deck prep, the underlayment, the flashing, the ventilation. As a GAF Master Elite contractor we install complete roof systems, to the manufacturer's standard, and we're accountable to both of you for it.

About Hardesty
What we do
One shop, the whole exterior.
Hardesty Roofing has worked on Central Virginia roofs since 1990, from a shop in Midlothian, with our own crews. Residential and commercial, replacement and repair, and the parts of the building envelope that connect to the roof and fail with it.
Most people arrive knowing something is wrong without knowing which category it falls into. Sorting that out is what the free inspection is for, and getting it wrong is expensive in both directions: replacing a roof that had years left, or patching one that is finished.

Roofing is a trade with a low barrier to entry and a high cost of failure, which is why credentials are worth understanding rather than just counting. Here is what ours mean in practice.

Virginia’s highest contractor license classification, with no limit on project size or value.

Held by a small percentage of roofing contractors nationally, and required to offer GAF’s strongest system coverage.

Our own workmanship warranty, separate from whatever the manufacturer covers on the material.

Same name, same area. A warranty is only worth something if the company is still answering the phone.
Common questions
Questions people ask first.
Are estimates free?
Yes. Every estimate is free, done on site, and delivered in writing. There is no obligation and no expectation that you decide during the visit.
Do you give prices over the phone?
No, and we would rather explain why than give you a number that turns out to be wrong. Roofs differ enough that a phone figure has to be revised once someone actually looks, and a revised number is worse than no number.
How soon can you come out?
Non urgent work is usually within a few days. Active leaks and storm damage go to the front, because water in a building compounds quickly.
Do you work on commercial buildings?
Yes, and it is a significant part of what we do. All five low slope membrane systems plus commercial metal, for owners, property managers and general contractors.
Are you local?
Yes. One shop in Midlothian, our own crews, no franchises and no out of state storm chasers. We take work within about ninety minutes of the shop.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, in house. Ask during the estimate and we will walk you through it.
What warranty do I get?
Two. Hardesty warrants the workmanship for five years. The manufacturer warrants the material, on terms that vary by the product you choose. You get both in writing before you sign.
Will you tell me if I do not need the work?
Yes, and it happens regularly. Plenty of people call expecting to be told they need a new roof and get told they have years left. That is a better outcome for both of us than selling work that was not needed.
